Why a hand is easier to follow one street at a time

New players usually try to take in a whole hand at once and end up remembering only who won. A hand is much easier to follow if you treat each street as a separate question. Preflop asks whether this hand is worth playing from this seat. The flop asks whether the three cards that just landed helped you more or less than they helped the people still in. The turn asks whether the pot is now big enough that you need a real reason to keep going. The river asks whether the story you have been telling all hand still holds up. Four questions, one per street’ that is the whole hand.

常见误解

The most common mistake is judging a hand by who won it. The second is treating the river like any other street when it is the one where a weak story finally gets called. The third is skipping preflop thinking: most of the trouble later in a hand starts with a seat you should not have played from.

内容边界

The four-street structure is standard Texas Hold’em and does not change between venues. Which actions are available on each street, and how long you get to decide, do vary. This site only organises reference material; it does not host any game.

怎么用这份内容

Read the four questions once, then watch a few hands with them in mind rather than watching the cards. After a session, pick two hands you hesitated on and work out which street the hesitation belonged to. That is usually where the missing piece is.
